The Employees' State Insurance (ESI) Act, 1948

Coverage
The Act applies to factories and establishments (including shops, hotels, restaurants, etc.) with a specified number of employees (typically 10 or more). The wage limit for coverage is currently Rs. 21,000 per month (Rs. 25,000 for persons with disability).
The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is responsible for administering the ESI scheme.
